information center

  • To begin your natural hair locking journey, we recommend scheduling a consultation in order to assess your hair's condition and provide personalized guidance. From there, we offer a range of professional services, including initial establishment and ongoing maintenance and an array of styling options.

  • At LOC'D Culture, we understand that every head of natural hair is unique, and the establishment of locks can vary in time based on factors such as density, texture, and length. We encourage potential clients to embrace the journey, as our experienced loctician will work closely with you to provide personalized care and guidance throughout the process.

  • At LOC'D Culture, we kindly require a minimum of four inches of natural hair to effectively establish locks. This length ensures optimal results and promotes healthy hair growth during the locking process. We are delighted to assess your hair and provide expert advice tailored to your individual needs and desired lifestyle.

  • Embarking on a natural hair locking journey at LOC'D Culture offers you the freedom of low-maintenance hair while still requiring regular upkeep. Locks provide a versatile and effortlessly stylish look, but they do demand commitment to maintenance. We recommend scheduling regular maintenance appointments every 4 to 6 weeks to ensure your locks remain healthy, neat, and well-maintained. As a skilled loctician, I will guide you through the process and provide the necessary care to keep your locks looking their best.

  • When entering into your loc journey, we strongly advise against starting with a loctician who may not be fully committed to maintaining your locks. At LOC'D Culture, we prioritize the long-term care and health of your locks, and we encourage you to choose a loctician who shares this commitment. Rest assured that if you entrust your loc journey to us, we will diligently serve and care for all our clients unless otherwise requested. Your satisfaction and the well-being of your locks are our top priorities.

  • At LOC'D Culture, we take pride in being a full-service salon, catering to all your hair care needs. We understand that sometimes you just don’t feel like shampooing your own hair so shampoos are offered as an add-on service at the time of booking.

We do, however, highly recommend that clients embrace the knowledge of shampooing their own locs. The shampoo recommendation is every 7 to 10 days. This approach promotes safety and allows for a clean and healthier scalp. Should you prefer to come in already shampooed, we respect your choice and are more than happy to accommodate your needs. We offer a shop filled with a variety of products available for purchase at your convenience. We will gladly provide guidance on proper at-home care to maintain the health and beauty of your locs.

  • Sisterlocks® is a trademarked technique created by Dr. JoAnne Cornwell. It involves using a special tool to create small, uniform, and consistent locks. The process requires precise parting and Interlocking of the hair to create tightly woven and thin locs. Sisterlocks® are known for their versatility, allowing for various styling options and a natural-looking appearance.

On the other hand, microlocks, simply means “small”locs. The term microlocks carries no specific locking method. This can be started by comb-coils, two-strand twists, palm rolling and even braids. Some also know microlocks to be small traditional locs. Therefore you will not find a service at LOC’D Culture® entitled “microlocks”.

We specify the locking method at LOC’D Culture® by informing you that we only provide Interlocking. So the difference between the Sisterlocks®and the Interlocks that we offer, will be the grid, size, and the pattern.

It's important to note that both Sisterlocks® and Interlocks have their unique characteristics and benefits, and the choice between them ultimately depends on personal preference and the desired outcome. Consulting with a professional who specializes in these techniques can help you make an informed decision based on your specific hair type and style goals.

  • Consultations open on the 20th of every month at 5 am for the following month (as availability permits).
